IP Based Security Cameras
IP based security cameras is considered an updated version of your usual analog surveillance cameras. All you need is a network cable and a router switch where the IP security camera can be attached. It already has a sensor and compressor which could monitor videos while compressing the output. The output from the compressor is sent over the network to your network video recorder. The IP based security cameras are easy to manipulate.
One good thing about IP security cameras is you could possibly install it by yourself. Many companies will provide you instructions on how you could set it up in your own homes. There are also available contact numbers for you should you not understand some terms in the manual. There is also special software included in your purchase of IP based security cameras.
Types of IP security cameras
There are several types of IP based security cameras found in the market. You could have a wide array of choices and in order to help you, here is a list of what is in store for you. You may want to know which of the following suits your workplace and other environments:
• PTZ Cams. This type of IP security cameras come with image sensors, white balance, auto electric shutter and auto gain control. This is economical and is small in built. • Mega Pixel Cams. This looks similar to the PTZ cams. The difference however is the provision of at least eight frames per second plus multi-stream capabilities in the same compression. It also has day and night functions bundled with a 1.8 megapixel lens. Others may go with lower resolution of 1.3-megapixel lens that is why these IP security cameras are called Mega Pixel Cams.
There are other IP based security cameras out in the market that is why sometimes it is hard to figure out which type you will buy. Just bear in mind that making a choice relies upon your needs and basically your budget. If you know how to look at specifications yourself, you may go for the one you think is best without consultation from others. Please recomend a PTZ camera?
Please recomend a PTZ camera for live recording of church service. Will be part of system consisting of 2 PTZ and one manual cam, 1 Edirol V-4 mixer and distributed to multiple outputs including displays, DVD recorders, and PC for further editing. Ambient lighting ranges from lights out for drama to afternoon brightness on Sundays.
Budget per camera < $2K. Currently considering the Sony EVI D70.
The EVI-D70's are very good but their VISCA control wiring is expensive and will add considerably to your installation costs. Also, you will be controlling the cameras via a PC and it may not be such a good idea to multitask this PTZ control function with your video capturing process. One crash during a service and you've lost both your capture and your PTZ control until the system is rebooted.
You might consider using non-PTZ cameras with an EZ-PTZ 140 control system which uses inexpensive Cat5 wiring and operates the pan, tilt, and zoom functions for up to 4 cameras with one joystick. It works very smooth in a live production setting.
