I know that ssd is better for mobile devices, and I know there are no moving parts like a hhd so its more reliable. What I really want to know is how an ssd stores information while the computer is turned off, completely. I understand that hdd uses a magnet to keep data while no power is supplied. RAM (is a ssd) loses the data when the power is off. So how does an solid state hard drive store info while the computer is off.

It's my understanding that these devices need power occasionally to prevent data loss. Using rechargeable lithium power cells and/or capacitive discharge circuitry, the devices will keep the data in the last state set. If, however, you store data on a USB thumbdrive and do not use the device for an extended period, the device will eventually drain and lose data.
Basically, the devices have built-in rechargeable batteries that recharge upon each usage.
