Perle Systems Extends Fiber Optic Cabling Support to 160Km
NASHVILLE, TN—April 1, 2011— Perle Systems, a global provider of advanced fiber to Ethernet and secure device networking solutions, is pleased to announce Ethernet to Fiber Media Converters that support an operating distance of 160Km.
Copper-based Ethernet connections are limited to a data transmission distance of only 100 meters when using unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable. By using a Perle Ethernet to Fiber Media Converter, fiber optic cabling can now be used to extend this link up to 160Km.
"Perle has been providing high quality network connectivity solutions since 1976," says John Feeney, COO of Perle Systems. "The continued expansion of our full-featured Media Converter line is a testimonial to our corporate strength and full service commitment to our large customer base around the world."
With this launch, Perle now offers over 380 Media Converter models to connect 10BaseT, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit to fiber. This enables Perle to offer a solution to connect any fiber and copper cable type and distance. All Perle Media Converters have an on-board microcontroller which deals with error detection and recovery. And, Perle Media Converters only use high-end components to ensure product reliability. Perle backs this up with a Lifetime Warranty to guarantee user satisfaction.

Choose a Fiber to Ethernet Media Converter that is made with robust and reliable components.
Almost all Media Converters that are commonly available on the market claim to have a feature called Link-Pass Through. However, in most products, this feature is poorly implemented and does not work properly. If you choose a low-end Media Converter, the end to end connection on your network will always appear as if it is up and running, even though the fiber connection may be broken or disconnected. The end devices, such as switches, continue to see the connection as healthy and never report a problem to an enterprise network management system. Your network will be down and you won't know why or what to fix!
If you choose Perle you will get Media Converters with an onboard processor that continuously monitors the status of the links connected to its transceiver ports. These connections behave like real copper to copper connections. If there is a break or failure in the link, both end devices become aware and react accordingly. An application on a server or a switch can then take the appropriate action should a link fail. SFP+ (Tiny Form-factor Pluggable Plus) 10 Gbps Interconnect Program From Molex Supports Next-generation Speeds Of Standard SFP Applications,
SFP+ (Tiny Form-factor Pluggable Plus) ten Gbps Interconnect System from Molex supports next-generation speeds of normal SFP applications, having a higher range of choices for increased port density The SFP+ product line of connectors, cages and patch cables takes SFP to the subsequent level. SFP+ interconnects are created to assistance applications for 8 Gbps Fibre Channel and 10 Gbps Gigabit Ethernet, as compared to SFP, that is designed to support 1.125 Gbps Fibre Channel and 2.five Gbps Gigabit Ethernet applications. SFP+ interconnects use the same space-per-port as standard SFP interconnects, for that reason offering 11.1 Gbps capability in a space that is 30% smaller than XFP. The SFP+ interconnect program supports the SFP+ specifications covering 6 various standards, which define information rates ranging from 8.5 to11.1 Gbps. The SFP+ program is generally referred to as ten Gbps system though the specification is rated up to 11.1 Gpbs. The SFP+ host connectors are a key component in Molex's extensive SFP item line. Molex designed the 74441 series to be capable of handling 10 Gbps data rates numerous years ago. Now, with the launch of SFP+, Molex is properly positioned having a host connector which is tooled and in volume production. The standard SFP host connectors offer you outstanding signal integrity at 10 Gbps. Thus, a client employing the normal portion doesn't need to have a board re-spin. Also supplied can be a new version with a modified housing to protect against a mis-mated module. This offers exactly the same electrical efficiency as the original host connector. The component numbers for this version are 74441-5001 and -5010. Watertown, Connecticut — Siemon, a leading global manufacturer of IT network cabling and infrastructure systems, today announced that its high speed interconnect goods have passed important 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet testing in the Ethernet Alliance's recent Greater Speed Ethernet (HSE) subcommittee interoperability plugfest for IEEE Std. 802.3baTM-2010 40 and 100 Gbps Ethernet. Hosted by Ixia at its iSimCity lab in Santa Clara, CA and assisted by the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab, the plugfest was designed to verify interoperability of 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s test equipment, systems, NICs, transceivers and cabling. Testing included Siemon's Moray QSFP active optical and QSFP passive copper cable assemblies, multi-fiber MTP connectorized equipped OM3 and OM4 optical assemblies and singlemode fiber with SC connectors. All Siemon high-speed cable assemblies passed their respective 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s interoperability tests. "The plugfest was instrumental in proving that the greater speed Ethernet ecosystem is prepared for deployment," said David Schneider, advertising and marketing chair of the EA's Higher Speed Ethernet subcommittee. "Siemon's full line of cables fully interoperated using the transceivers and systems at the plugfest." "With the SFP Plus recent activity in IEEE 802.3ab, this EA plugfest becomes totally critical in signalling the commercial viability of high-speed Ethernet towards the bigger network infrastructure market," explained Randy Beneath, VP of Organization Development at Siemon's Interconnect Solutions organization unit. "It also allowed Siemon to highlight the breadth of its cabling line. We have end-to end twisted pair and optical fiber systems supporting application speeds up to and beyond 10Gb/s, such as category 6A shielded and UTP and fully-shielded category 7A TERA as well as XGLO singlemode and multimode fiber. We can now add totally interoperable 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s Passive twinaxial Copper, Active Optical and Passive Optical interconnects to that list." Established in 1903, Siemon (http://www.sfplustransceiver.com) is a global market leader in the development and manufacture of high quality, high-performance network cabling solutions. Siemon's Interconnect Solutions enterprise unit (SIS) specializes in the development of high-speed interconnects. Headquartered in Watertown, Connecticut, USA,SFP Transceiver Siemon operates directly in over 30 countries and, through its channels, services clients in over 100 countries. Siemon provides a comprehensive suite of copper and optical fiber cabling systems. With over 400 patents, Siemon Labs invests heavily in R&D and is actively involved with numerous industry standards organizations around the world.
